Michigan launches Space Innovation Hub at Newlab Detroit

A new statewide space-economy network will be anchored at Newlab Detroit inside the Michigan Central Innovation District.

Michigan is launching a Space Innovation Hub designed to connect manufacturers, startups, researchers, and federal partners working on next-generation space technologies. The hub will be anchored at Newlab Detroit in the Michigan Central Innovation District and is supported by a nearly $1.2 million one-year grant from the Michigan Office of Defense and Aerospace Innovation at MEDC. State leaders say the network is intended to help Michigan companies compete for opportunities across aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, and dual-use technology. Why it matters for Metro Detroit: The hub strengthens Detroit’s position as a place where mobility, manufacturing, robotics, aerospace, and startup ecosystems increasingly overlap, creating potential supplier, hiring, partnership, and funding opportunities for regional businesses.
